Piggy in My Pocket

I can imagine the discussion that must have gone on at Vivid Imaginations when they thought up this line.  "So we've exhausted puppies, kitties, teddies... What other animal can we use? Ooo, I know, pigs! There's a lot we can do with a pig mould!"

In 1995, we have our first official (and only), Piggy in my Pocket set.  I don't ever recall seeing these in the shops to be truthful, and I would say that this set is one of the less easy to find.  The set was released as part of the 'Babies at Play Collection', which also had #128 puppy family Susan, #42 pony family Penny, and #78 kitty family Pamela.  I currently only have the pig and part of the pony set from this collection.

Each set came with a mum and her babies, a scene setter, and a birth certificate.  No cards were released for these sets.

A: The Russian Blue Family, B: The Icelandic Horse Family, C: The Dalmation Family, D: The Piggy Family

1. Charlotte

The set comprised of a set of hay bales that is marked , and came with Charlotte and her four piglets.  The birth certificate states:

  • 1. Charlotte
    The Piggy Family
Charlotte is getting impatient.  It's teatime and the piglets won't finish playing hide and seek in the barn - they are naughty!

Although a pig family was in itself quite limiting and probably not very popular (being as we didn't have any further releases), it was nice to have a little variety and this set, I think, is quite sweet.

This set is complete.

Other pigs...?

While there is only one official Piggy in my Pocket sow, a pig was released with the Puppy in My Pocket set with Bafta (puppy #111) in the 1995 Friends Collection.  Bafta's paint on my figure is haunting with his beady eyes (sorry, Bafta), but I love the pig who looks so suspicious and sneaky like he's tip-toeing around.

Bafta came with three animals you could name: a calf, a piglet, and a lamb.  Included with the set was Bafta's numbered card, a photo album for you to write the names of your animals on (and show you the others in the set, naturally!), along with some hay bales.

I'm missing the photo album and UK card (I have the Canadian version!) and I am looking for this.
